Collaboration Project
Not sure if this is what we were going for when it was requested that we all post about our project on the blog. The Westside group is working on promoting collaboration within grade level teams through the use of protocols. Each of us is working on meeting the specific needs of their grade level. We assessed needs through a pre-survey and then talked as a group about protocols that we could put in place to address those needs. We are still adjusting and trying to improve collaboration within the grade levels. We are also working on creating a time line of collaboration needs and then correlate protocols that could be used to address the needs. We'd love input about collaboration needs that arise throughout the year or protocols that you think would be easily used and useful in grade level teams.

Loran, this sounds like a very relevant topic that can bring about immediate and long term culture changes locally and beyond if given the proper support and continued opportunities for collaboration and teacher leadership.
ReplyDeleteOur group is working on identifying what specific types of support and professional development would be most relevant to new teachers from the time they accept their contract through the first nine weeks of school. We are gathering information from a survey of new teachers and plan on creating a New Teacher Induction Academy Curriculum of sorts featuring the types of training and experiences we would like to provide new teachers during this crucial time. Yeah, I think that is what we are doing.
This is what we are doing Kelly. We really would like to become more involved in the initial induction of new teachers to RCPS. Building the relationship early is very important in our role as mentors. I hope everyone is having success with their inquiry project!
DeleteOur group met last week to work on our survey questions and we continued to make sure we were staying focused on our research question. We have a tendency to try and tackle many challenges instead of focusing on just the one. I think we are headed in a good direction and I am looking forward to sending out the survey when it's ready, so we can start analyzing the data.
